Red Light Syndrome

The Sensors update tire pressure readings to the Monitor every five (5) minutes and will display these readings. When the system is cycled to each wheel position, it will display the last pressure transmission received. A Patent Pending feature of the PressurePro system is the “check-in” feature. Sensors send short millisecond “check-in” signal bursts regularly. As with all RF devices, a signal may be lost or interrupted. If a signal is lost or interrupted, the Monitor will light that wheel location with a solid light. If this type alert occurs, it most likely indicates a Sensor signal has not been received. Check that Sensor’s location and signal strength.

The significance of the periodic red lights at the depicted tire locations are as follows: To receive updated pressure readings from the Sensors every five minutes, 24/7, the update transmissions by each Sensor are of extremely short durations. When these transmissions occur, some Sensors may encounter interference or be momentarily positioned in a poor rotational pathway location for their transmissions to reach the Monitor with their update signals.  When there is interference and the short-burst signal does not find a pathway to the Monitor, the Monitor will display a solid red light at that Sensor’s depicted location. If that wheel position is scrolled to (use of UP or DOWN arrows) that position will display 3 dashes and emit an audible beep & commence a slow blinking of the tire’s depicted location light. When the next updates are transmitted and reach the Monitor, the red lights go out and scrolling to the locations will display the tire’s current pressure. However, note that if the Sensor has ever succeeded with transmissions to the Monitor, it most likely will succeed with its “Alert Signal”, even if the Sensor’s depicted red location light is on.

NOTE:  It is important to understand the difference between the Sensor’s two transmitted signal types: (1) “Update Pressure Transmissions”, per above explanation, are very short single RF signals which can be interfered with. (2) “Low Pressure Alerts” or “High Pressure Alerts” are longer, stronger RF transmissions that are emitted continuously while the wheel rotates a number of times.

If inconvenienced by the red-light indicators (3 dashes), the use of our optional “Extended Antenna Kit” (recommended for Tractor/Trailers & large vehicles) or our “Echo Repeater” (recommended for RVs over 38’) should be considered.  Remember, after re-powering the Monitor &/or repositioning the Monitor, the Echo Repeater, or the 7” whip for the Extended Antenna Kit, it can take up to 5 minutes for the Monitor to receive fresh pressure transmission updates from the Sensors, so wait for 5 minutes before making an evaluation of the system function!
